The gruesome murder of a female preacher who was hacked to the death in Abuja has generated outrage among some Nigerians.
The 42 year-old mother of seven, Mrs. Eunice Elisha, was a deaconess at the Divine Touch parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Old NEPA Road, Phase 4, Kubwa. She had gone out to evangelize along Gbazango-West area of Kubwa on Saturday moring, July 9, when she was hacked to death by unknown assailants suspected to be extremists.
In a new twist to the Labour Party (LP) leadership saga, the party’s factional National Chairman, Alhaji Lamidi Apapa, has urged a Federal High Court in Abuja to order the Inspector-General of Police to remove the suspended National Chairman, Julius Abure, from the party’s national secretariat.
Apapa and his co-plaintiffs, which include Alhaji Lawal Saleh, the Acting National Secretary, and Comrade Anslem Eragbe, the National Youth Leader, have lodged a suit requesting a permanent injunction to prevent Abure and three other suspended national officers from continuing to claim they are the national chairman and officers of the party.

A Catholic priest based in Gambia, Fr Kelvin Ugwu, has accused the Nollywood industry of promoting the perception of grandmothers as witches. He also claimed that the industry also initiated the concept that humans or spirits could just disappear and appear in any location they want.
Ugwu made the assertion on Wednesday in a post on his Facebook page.
He stated that Nollywood promoted the idea that pastors and prophets are the most powerful people to meet once you have any problem.
