Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has revealed who will be his running mate in the upcoming 2023 elections. Makinde announced Barrister Bayo Lawal, one of his appointees and the chairman of the State Housing Corporation, as his running mate thereby dumping his deputy Engineer Rauf Olaniyan.
Lawal, as reported, was one of three other persons widely rumored as possible replacements for the deputy governor.
Recall that on May 25th Makinde emerged as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Oyo.
The move by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to re-arrest the convicted former Chairman, Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, stirred drama at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday. Recall that the Federal High Court on Monday sentenced Maina to eight years imprison for money laundering.
The presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang, in his ruling in the suit filed by EFCC against Maina, sentenced him to cumulative eight-year imprisonment.
